Beware of the "Five Solas" doctrine; it is an oxymoron and extra-biblical non-sense
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
(Ephesians 4:14)
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
(Psalms 2:1)
The devil and his agents are exceedingly crafty: beware of any teaching that is not derived directly from the bible.
Anyone promoting this doctrine is an agent of the enemy, a worker of iniquity and/or has been given up to a reprobate mind.
"Sola" means alone, single, only one, or having no companion. Therefore, when we have one item or element and one more element is introduced (let alone 4 more!) we have left the realm of reason and logic. This should not be surprising as our Lord is the God of logic and the logos, and His doctrines must be congruent and coherent.
Furthermore, the intention is not to single out this extra-biblical teaching in particular. The question is, have you really thought through and considered what this and many other such doctrines actually insinuate and ultimately hope to accomplish?
Poison is only effective against its targets because most of the content it is diluted in is usually kosher and appears good to swallow. Interestingly enough, guess which word and group of people are mentioned in Jesus' final warning?
Hint: it literally means "one who influences fate or fortune," and is related to "the art of producing illusions by sleight of hand," often using "a written or recited formula of words designed to produce a particular effect," or "an expression or trick used in conjuring." Also literally means "poisoner!"; you can't make this stuff up. (By the way, the word is "sorcerer")
The only "sola," or more accurately, "solus" is the Godhead himself; being known as manifest through the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. They should be saying "Solus Christus" instead, and stop there.
All you need is Christ and his pure, unadulterated words!
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
(Matthew 11:27-30)
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
(Matthew 7:15-20)
